Eggliving homestore celebrates first birthday in July 2008 and launches Interior Design Workshop Hour

Eggliving is an exclusive home store and gallery, nestled in the heart of Oughterard, Co. Galway. Celebrating its first birthday in July 2008, Eggliving has established itself as a fore-runner in providing fashionable vintage-style design for the home. It is the perfect place to stop and browse for anyone travelling westward to Connemara.

Owner Leah Beggs prides herself on finding a different and exciting range of select home and garden accessories. She sources products from all over Europe, particularly Denmark, and carries many pieces portraying the ‘Cosy Vintage’ look currently in vogue.

Amongst the variety of brands found in the shop, are retro-1950's style homewares from Garden Trading, funky vintage soft furnishings by Housedoctor, the ethically produced Rice brand, and a select range from the recently launched Rachel Allen Kitchenware by Tipperary Crystal.

The style of the shop is unique as is the variety. Browse through the carefully selected stock and discover something different to complement your home. From the useful painted storage bench to a select range of light fittings that aren’t seen elsewhere; Lavender filled fabric doorstops to keep those draughty doors in place or fab vintage-look fabric seat cushions to perk up your kitchen chairs; And for the garden why not try the wooden table and chair set finished in an antique paint look, topped off with a glass oil lamp to light up those al fresco feasts!

An accomplished artist in her own right, Leah also set up an art gallery at Eggliving, to complement the homestore, and has been overwhelmed at the interest and response. The intimate contemporary space presents paintings, photography and ceramics from both local and national artists.

Celebrate Eggliving’s first birthday in July with a gallery evening and a host of special offers coinciding with a series of local festivals and happenings in the area. Eggliving will also be offering a ‘Deal of the Month’ on select items, and look out for Leah’s Interior Design Workshop Hours which will help answer any interior design queries you may have. As a special introductory offer the first ten customers to book this service can avail of 1 hour for free. So get booking and remember, at Eggliving fresh ideas are hatched every day.

A Cracking Time at the
Launch of eggliving

There was a festive buzz around the town of Oughterard on Friday 30th November night as one of its most recent additions, eggliving, was officially hatched! This boutique home store has been trading for the past few months on the main street of Oughterard and is a welcome boost to this Connemara village.

This wasn’t your average ribbon cutting launch - in keeping with the stores original title an oversized egg was cracked by TG4 personality, Aoife Ní Thuairisg.

The locally prouced festive treats served on the night consisted of mince pies with a difference, Christmas tree shaped cookies and mulled wine to wash it all down. The lucky guests received a 10% discount on purchases and many used the night to get cracking on their Christmas shopping.

Those unfamiliar with what eggliving has to offer will be delighted when they discover the assorted mix of furniture and accessories guaranteed to liven up any home or garden. Coupled with an art gallery showcasing local artists, this home-store offers an amazing range of household gift and design solutions.

If you are looking for some original Christmas gift ideas then look no further than eggliving. There is a vast array of original and exciting ideas to suit everyone from your neighbour to your pet pooch. A sample of the products include the extremely popular ‘Rice’ brand, antiqued plant pots, vintage style quilts, colourful birdhouses, luxurious cushions and quirky dog coats to name but a few. The range and choice of goods is too vast to list with a visit to the store doing it the only justice possible.

Not only offering you a number of gift ideas, eggliving will wrap your Christmas presents for free. As part of this service you can include those not bought in store for a minimal charge. Forget about fighting with the sellotape and corners this Christmas and instead allow Leah and her staff to add their artistic touches.

Accomplished artist, Leah Beggs, is the owner of eggliving. Her background in art and design inspired her to set up this shop in Oughterard, a village she now calls home.  She says “I’ve been really excited about the success of eggliving so far. I’ve had great feedback from my customers and look forward to continuing to provide them with something new and unusual for their homes and gardens”

“After the Christmas festivities” remarks Leah “I look forward to promoting the art gallery with a view to staging individual exhibitions in the spring. I will also be introducing a new range of stock from Scandinavia, and we will be embarking on the launch of our interior design service. As we say at eggliving – fresh ideas hatched every day!”
